Tangelo: Publish Your Way
Ten minutes to your new weblog. It's web publishing - with a twist.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is Tangelo?
Tangelo, termed "web publishing with a twist," is a departure from most traditional weblog publishing tools. Instead of installing or using weblog software on an Internet web server, Tangelo is installed on the user's computer as a standalone application, providing much easier installation, greater weblog control, and ease of use. Tangelo streamlines organization of weblog text and images, and publishes the weblog to both an Internet web server and to the user's own computer for better control and backup. In addition, Tangelo features integration with NetNewsWire 2.0 for posting RSS news items.
Can I have more than one author on my weblog?
Yes and no. Tangelo is designed for a single desktop installation that manages one or more weblogs. You couldn't post to the same weblog from multiple Tangelo applications on multiple computers (that's a job for a server weblog system and our Frequency product). Essentially, there's no support for it built into Tangelo, but two people could share a weblog as long as they don't mind sharing the computer it's installed on.
How many weblogs can I have?
Tangelo supports an indefinite number of weblogs. The number is limited only by the resources available on your computer. To switch to a different weblog or to create a new one, choose Switch Weblog from the File Menu.
How can I get comments on my weblog?
Check out some freely available commenting systems like HaloScan and Enetation. Any commenting system that uses the Post ID should work with Tangelo.
Can I connect to Tangelo from a weblog client like Frequency?
Not yet. That may come in a future version.
I use .Mac for my web site. Can I still use Tangelo?
Yep. Just mount your iDisk before running Tangelo. Set your local weblog backup to be on your iDisk and turn off FTP publishing. It's slower than running it locally, but it works. We hope to improve WebDAV and iDisk support in a future release.
I don't like FTP. Can I use SFTP or FTPS?
Not yet. That may come in a future version.
