Daily Devotional for Apr 19, 2026

Let's talk about the walk away. 🍞 In Luke 24, two disciples are leaving Jerusalem. They aren't doubting; they're done. They tell a stranger: "We had hoped he was the one." Past tense. But the stranger is Jesus, and he doesn't scold them. He walks with them. They don't recognize him in a miracle, but in the ordinary breaking of bread. The past tense becomes present tense again. God shows up in the ordinary. We had hoped. Now we know.
