Let's talk about refusing to settle. 🛑 In Genesis 24, Abraham makes his servant swear not to find a wife for Isaac among the Canaanites. This isn't about ethnicity; it's about power dynamics. The Canaanites represent the local empire, and Abraham refuses to let God's un-domesticated promise get absorbed into the local political machine. He refuses to let the Kingdom be co-opted. In Acts 7, we see the exact opposite. God frees the Israelites from Egypt, but when the wait gets too long, they demand a golden calf. They want the manageable religion of the empire they just left. When the promise takes too long, the temptation is always to reach for what's available—a comfortable place in the empire's infrastructure. But it always requires compromising the Kingdom's grace. Refuse to bow today.
