Let's talk about being a target. 🎯 In Jeremiah 26, the prophet stands in the temple courtyard and tells the truth, and power immediately responds with the threat of violence. The empire will always protect its institutions over its people. In Revelation 2, the church in Smyrna is warned that the empire is about to throw some of them into prison. They didn't do anything wrong; just existing as a faithful community made them a target. The empire doesn't wait for you to do something to put you in the crosshairs. But the Kingdom gives us the audacity to speak the truth anyway! If the target is coming either way, you might as well say the true thing and make the empire nervous just by existing. While the empire can threaten your comfort, it cannot own your soul. 🗣️✨
