Let's talk about getting help when you need it the most and expect it the least. 🕳️ In Jeremiah 38, the elites try to silence the prophet with a quiet disappearance, dropping him into a muddy cistern. But an outsider, Ebed-melech, shows up with an unexpected, tender rescue—using rags to pad the ropes so they don't cut Jeremiah's skin. In Matthew 10, Jesus gives his disciples a terrible pep talk, warning they will be dragged before the empire's governors, but he promises the rescue of the Spirit speaking through them. The empire wants you isolated. It wants you to believe that if the people who are supposed to protect you fail, no one else is coming. But underneath the danger, both texts insist you are not as alone as the empire wants you to feel. The empire can put you in a pit, but it cannot silence the Spirit! 🕊️✨
