2026-07-26: Let's talk about hidden treasure. 💎 The empire doesn't do subtle; it demands shock and awe. But in Matthew 13, Jesus says the Kingdom of heaven is small, hidden, and deeply subversive. You don't give everything for the Kingdom out of guilt or a calculated return on investment. You give it out of joy. We see this enacted in Genesis 29: Jacob works seven years for Rachel, and it feels like just a few days because of his love. That’s the hidden treasure parable lived out. But then the wedding night arrives, and the next morning, it's Leah. Laban pulls the ultimate imperial bait-and-switch, tricking Jacob into fourteen years of labor and shrugging it off as "custom." The empire operates by extraction, promising a reward while stealing your life. The Kingdom is different. It’s a discovery so profoundly good—so completely joyful—that you gladly trade the empire’s currency to be part of it. And once you find it, the empire cannot take it away.
