2026-07-29: Let's talk about mustard seeds and empires. 🌱 In Genesis 46, a severe famine forces an elderly Jacob and his family—just seventy people—to migrate to Egypt as refugees. Egypt is the ultimate empire, possessing all the grain, wealth, and power. But God meets a frightened Jacob in the night, offering heavenly wisdom and presence: "Do not be afraid. I will go with you." When Jacob arrives, the refugee actually ends up blessing Pharaoh, the emperor, speaking Kingdom authority right into the face of empire power. It’s a perfect picture of Jesus's parable in Mark 4. The Kingdom of God is a mustard seed. The empire thought it was just giving a little land in Goshen to a manageable group of foreigners, but it was hosting a mustard seed. Seventy people went down into Egypt, and four hundred years later a nation came out. The Kingdom doesn't arrive with shock and awe; it arrives quietly, growing persistently right in the empire's own territory. What seeds are you planting today? ✨
