2026-09-17: Let's talk about what happens when mercy doesn't take. 🗡️ In Nahum 1, we read a dark, violent oracle against Nineveh. But context matters: a century earlier, God sent Jonah to this exact city, they repented, and God showed mercy. By Nahum's time, Nineveh had reverted to terror. Nahum isn't God's first word to them; it's the last one, after the first mercy didn't take. 🕊️ The discomfort of this violent text shouldn't make us look away from what real victims suffered under the Empire. But in 2 Corinthians 13, Paul shows us the shock of the Kingdom: Christ was crucified in weakness. ✝️ God doesn't defeat the Empire by becoming a bigger warlord; God defeats it by absorbing its violence on a cross and breaking the cycle entirely. 🌱
